Eminem has now broken two hip-hop records in 2018 following his new album ‘Kamikaze‘ and its follow-up single ‘Killshot’. According to Chart Data, ‘Kamikaze’ is now the best-selling hip-hop album of 2018 as of today (October 17), beating competition from the likes of Drake, Post Malone, XXXTentacion and Cardi B.
Killshot’ shot to the third-highest amount of views for a music video within 24 hours of being uploaded when it dropped in September.
At 38.1 million views it’s the best total of all time for a hip hop track, beaten only by Taylor Swift‘s ‘Look What You Made Me Do’, which hit 43.2 million last year, and BTS‘ ‘Idol’, which beat the all-time record with 45 million views in August.
The feud escalated, dragging the likes of Pusha T and Halsey into the fray. It was later revealed that both Eminem and Kelly’s diss tracks were produced by the same person.
Eminem revealed why he took aim at Kelly on ‘Not Alike’, saying it was “a lot more petty” than the presumption that his rage was provoked by comments Kelly had made about his daughter Hailie.
Eminem has also said he “went too far” when he used a homophobic slur against Tyler, The Creator. On ‘Fall’, he rapped: “Tyler create nothin’, I see why you called yourself a f****t, bitch.”
