Kodak Black, Travis Scott & Offset’s ‘ZEZE’ Debuts at No. 1
Kodak Black, Travis Scott & Offset’s ‘ZEZE’ Debuts at No. 1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart.
The collaboration marks a record-tying fifth No. 1 debut in 2018.
Kodak Black, Travis Scott and Offset each claim their first No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart as “ZEZE” starts in the top slot on the ranking dated Oct. 27.
As previously reported, the song begins at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, behind Maroon 5’s “Girls Like You,” featuring Cardi B, in its fifth leading week.
“ZEZE” traces its chart-topping start largely to streams. The tune blasts in at No. 1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Streaming Songs and all-genre Streaming Songs charts thanks to 43.9 million U.S. streams in the week ending Oct. 18, according to Nielsen Music. “ZEZE” also opens atop R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales, with 23,000 downloads sold in the same period.
The collaboration also climbs onto R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay after its first full tracking week, with 3.2 million in audience in the week ending Oct. 21, per Nielsen Music.
Pre- “ZEZE,” Kodak Black ranked as high on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs with “Tunnel Vision,” which reached No. 4 in 2017. Travis Scott and Offset notched their prior bests just this August, as the former’s “Sicko Mode” topped out at No. 3, while the latter’s feature on Tyga’s “Taste” resulted in a No. 7 high.
Plus, as “ZEZE” kicks off atop Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, it marks the chart’s fifth No. 1 debut in 2018, after Drake’s “God’s Plan” and “Nice For What,” Childish Gambino’s “This Is America,” and Lil Wayne’s “Mona Lisa,” featuring Kendrick Lamar.
The collection ties 1995 as the calendar years with the most No. 1 debuts. Back then, The Notorious B.I.G.’s “One More Chance/Stay With Me,” Michael Jackson’s “You Are Not Alone,” Mariah Carey’s “Fantasy,” R. Kelly’s “You Remind Me of Something” and Whitney Houston’s “Exhale (Shoop Shoop),” all immediately started their chart careers in the penthouse.
